There are a few take-home tips that you can do to when your headache strikes.1

 

5 Simple steps can do the trick: 1, 2

1.     Drink plenty of water to avoid being dehydrated. 1, 2

2.     Stress exacerbates headaches, so try to relax whenever you can. 1, 2

3.     Exercise regularly as much as you can. 1, 2

4.     Eat a regularly scheduled meals (even if you might not feel hungry). 1, 2

5.     Enough sleep is essential but don’t sleep more than what you’re used to - it might make your headache worse. 1, 2

6.     Avoid looking at a screen for a long time, as this strains your eyes and might worsen your headache. 1, 2

Listing all the triggers which causes your headache can help you identify when your headache occurred, what you were doing right before the pain started, what you ate or drank over the past 24 hours that might have caused your headache, how much have you slept and how long the headache lasted and what made it stop.3

Checking all listed triggers with your health care provider can help you to create a clear treatment plan by identifying what causes your headache and its pattern.3
