Lightheadedness, pale skin, lips, and nails, feeling tired or weak or having dizziness are all common symptoms that could happen during pregnancy. These symptoms frequently implies increased risk of anemia.1,2

Not getting enough folate from your diet can lead to birth problems such as neural tube abnormalities and low birth weight. Also, not getting enough Vitamin B12 might lead to Vit B12 deficiency, where your body can't produce enough healthy red blood cells and might lead to preterm labor. Pregnancy might also cause Iron-deficiency so your body doesn't have enough iron to produce adequate amounts of hemoglobin and this is the most common cause of anemia in pregnancy.2

Taking an iron supplement and/or folic acid supplement together with iron and folic rich food could be recommended by your health care professional. Iron rich food include meat, eggs and dairy products.2

You could have one or more of these symptoms but you still might not be anemic. So, consult your doctor and make sure to get routine blood tests to check for anemia at your regular check-ups.2
