The changes in hormones during pregnancy can slow down your digestion causing constipation.1

Although constipation is a normal symptoms during pregnancy, it can sometimes become devastating. Intestinal muscle relaxation and the pressure of uterus-expansion on the intestine due to hormonal changes cause pregnant women to be constipated. Worrying too much and limiting physical activities can also exercise worsen the situation! 2

You can avoid constipation by drinking plenty of fluids and water. Eat food rich in fibers and practicing regular exercise is indispensable. Eating big salad bowls with raw mixed vegetables, fresh fruit, dried fruit and wholegrain bread is a good recipe. Drinking less tea and coffee and walking can help too.3

Constipation may be a problem but can be solved with simple actions.3
