VERTIGO CAN BE CAUSED BY INFECTIONS!

Vertigo symptom may occur as a result of being subjected to some bacterial or viral infections causing inflammation in the inner ears, which badly affects the nerve.1, 2

Bacterial infections are less common in the inner ear than viral infections. These infections might cause disruption in the sensory transmission from the ear to the brain.2, 3

In viral infections, which are more common, the inner ear infection might be as a result of systemic viral infection, such as measles. In this type of infection, one ear only is being affected.2, 3

Symptoms of infections like Labyrinthitis may be severe and cause hearing loss or noise in the ears.2

When other illnesses have been excluded and vestibular neuritis has been diagnosed, medications are often given to control nausea and to suppress dizziness during the acute phase.3
