In few cases, when medication isn’t effective, patient may need a surgery or other procedures to control vertigo.1

·        Some surgical procedures involve the removal of the inner ear sense organ thus preventing the transmission of sensory information from the inner ear to the brain. The other ear takes over the balance function. This procedure may be used if you have severe hearing loss and your dizziness wasn’t relieved by treatments. An ultrasound might also be applied to the ear to destroy the balance end organs.1, 2

·        Other surgical technique might encompasses the removal of a noncancerous tumor that might be causing your symptoms.1,2

·        Your doctor may recommend antibiotic injection (called gentamicin) into your inner ear to inactivate the balance function.1,2

There are several surgical procedures and are highly dependent on your case and your dizziness cause.1,2
