Body tissues need oxygen to respire. Oxygen reach the different body tissues by being carried by hemoglobin (rich in iron) in the red blood cells. Accordingly, shortage in hemoglobin in the red blood cells causes some kind of anemia.

Having anemia might leave you feeling tired, weak and wobbly. Common signs also include having headaches and a pale skin color.1, 2

Iron deficiency is not the only cause of anemia, deficiency in some types of vitamins can also cause some types anemia. By doing a normal complete blood count test, your health care professional can detect the type of anemia you have.1, 2

Although many types of anemias cannot be prevented, some mild types of anemia can be simply prevented and treated by proper intake of different vitamins and nutrients like Iron, Folate, Vitamin B-12 and vitamin C.1, 2
